2025 Fall Term | System Engineering

Space Systems Engineer is responsible for coordinating the engineering processes of subsystems in a spacecraft to achieve mission objectives. They examine and evaluate the technical aspects of the project from concept to product. The system engineer leads the development of operation definitions (ConOps) and system architecture, defines requirements and boundary conditions, balances technical risk between subsystems, and oversees the validation and qualification of systems.

The benefits of doing an internship as a System Engineer:

  • Taking a key role in a national space project,
  • Being a part of the entire lifecycle of a spacecraft program, including design, manufacturing, testing, and space operations,
  • Having technical knowledge about all subsystems, including structural, electronic, thermal control, power, communication, and orbit-attitude control,
  • Determining and monitoring the technical aspects of a Space Project with a multidisciplinary approach,
  • Being responsible for the operation and coordination of subsystems,
  • Participating in satellite launch and orbit operations,
  • Mission error modes and risk analysis,
  • Participating in the conceptualization and development of a space mission,
  • Managing the balance between gains and losses among systems.
